Trigon provided professional engineering services for the rehabilitation of parking lots and service drives at Glen Echo Park and the Clara Barton National Historic Site along the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP)—a nationally significant transportation and recreational corridor managed by the National Park Service.

The project addressed aging asphalt and concrete pavements subjected to heavy visitor and maintenance traffic. Trigon conducted comprehensive site investigations, including topographic surveys, geotechnical borings, laboratory testing, pavement distress evaluations, drainage assessments, and an accessibility audit to evaluate compliance with Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards (ABAAS). Based on these findings, the team developed rehabilitation alternatives and prepared construction documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, and schedules in accordance with NPS standards.

Throughout the effort, Trigon supported coordination with federal, state, and local agencies to address environmental, historic preservation, and regulatory requirements, while developing phased construction strategies that maintained safe public access and minimized disruption to park operations. The result was a durable, accessible, and context-sensitive rehabilitation solution that preserved the historic character of the GWMP corridor while strengthening long-term safety and functionality for the National Park Service and its visitors.
