Trigon was a major subconsultant for the engineering, design and construction phase services for this project that involved improvements to the Effluent Pump Station at the Sewerage & Water Board’s 200 MGD East Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant (EBWWTP).
The purpose of the project was to evaluate and design improvements primarily to the electrical system at the effluent pump station and involved the preparation of detailed plans for modifying or replacing existing switchgear, a T5 transformer, resistor bank speed controllers, and variable frequency drives (VFDs), as well as the construction of a new, air-conditioned equipment room on the pump motor room floor. The new switch gear and VFDs were relocated to this newly constructed room, and existing motors would be rehabilitated or replaced to accommodate the new VFDs. In addition, all new equipment was connected to the plant’s SCADA system to provide control of the effluent pumps using the VFDs.
The project also included hydraulic evaluation of the capacity of the effluent pump station and the demolition of old equipment.
