Technical Editor – Vietnam

Technical Editor will ensure that final documents are well organized, follow appropriate formats, contain the required information, and are written in clear and easily understood language while maintaining accuracy in terms of technical content. The types of documents to be processed span the range from simple correspondence, speeches, and public outreach materials and technical documents.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads and/or assists with the drafting, reviewing, and editing of project documents, including reporting and planning documents.

Ensure that final documents are well organized, follow appropriate formats, contain the required information, and are written in clear and easily understood language while maintaining accuracy in terms of technical content.

Oversee report production process, review and edit all technical documents.

Provide technical writing and editorial review of all project materials in a quick, efficient manner (program briefs, reporting requirements, conference documents, technical abstracts and materials, presentations, journal articles, technical reports and public information materials).

Check that all project materials are responsive/compliant, sound, internally consistent, and appropriately address all reporting and procurement requirements.

Review drafts of project materials to make recommendations to improve responsiveness/ compliance, organization, and clarity.

Prepare and assist with preparation, coordination, copyediting and proofing of large and small reports and papers; as well as write-ups for external clients.

Ensure document quality and branding as per branding guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, social science, journalism, communications, or related field.

A minimum of ten (10) years of continuous experience in related field. 

Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat Adobe.

Strong communication skills in both English and Vietnamese (oral and written).

Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Ability to quickly research and identify information with minimal to no supervision.

PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with USAID-funded projects.

In order to integrate the foreign assistance effort into the community, enhance the skills of the cooperating country’s population, and contribute to the local economy, this position is designated for a Cooperating Country National (CCN), meaning an individual who is a cooperating country citizen, or a non-cooperating country citizen lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the cooperating country.
