Trigon Associates, LLC (Trigon) was the prime engineer for this project and provided engineering, design, bidding and construction phase services.
Louis Morel Lane is an approximately 1,300’ asphalt street in a residential area in Buras, LA between Highway 11 and Highway 23. Approximately half of the street was in fair condition while the other half was in poor to extremely poor condition.
The project generally included re-designing the roadway; improving the drainage capacity of the street by installing new catch basins and culverts and reshaping/relocating a drainage swale; installing a new 8” water main with new valves and fire hydrants; and abandoning/removing an old 4” water main.
Approximately two-thirds of the roadway was rehabilitated via multiple base/roadway repairs followed by milling and overlay. The remaining one-third of the roadway was totally reconstructed. The reconstructed section will also widened from approximately 16’ to 20’.
New traffic signs, striping and roadway reflectors were added to the street.
Trigon coordinated with the Parish to incorporate the use of piping and catch basins pre-purchased by the Parish for drainage improvements.
Construction was completed during the summer of 2012.
